New Year’s Absolution

For most of us, the New Year is a time for resolutions to better ourselves; however, in the Hebrew calendar, the New Year involved a month long celebration, each day celebrating the theme of absolution and reflecting on what God had accomplished. What has God accomplished in your life this past year?

Hebrews 10:11-14

Jeremiah 32:36-41

A New Year’s Perspective

The sermon both comforts and challenges us. Our natural inclination is to mess stuff up. Jesus Christ won security for us and we are now free to be honest about our sin. Jesus Christ now defines us and gives us our identity, not our sin. Grace flows downhill to the poor and humble and He works through our weaknesses for His glory. God’s will will prevail through the Church, as broken as she is.

What are God’s New Year’s resolutions for you?

  1. Cheer up! You’re far worse than you think.
  2. Cheer up! God’s grace is much greater than you can imagine.
  3. Cheer up! God works through our weakness.
  4. Cheer up! God’s kingdom/plan will eventually prevail.
